Midwest Rapper and recording Artist RAWOZ (pronounced raw oh's) A.K.A. Mike Rose officially entered the contest on August 30th, 2019 and submitted his video the following week on September 10th.
At the time this article was written there were 117 entries. In order for a contestant to be eligible to win they must receive 100 votes by September 30th at which time Kato will select a 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place Winner. RAWOZ received 75 of the needed 100 votes within 12 hours of publishing his video and has essentially guaranteed himself a position in the contest as a top contender.
In an interview with RAWOZ the artist pointed out that he feels strong about his entry due the amount of effort he put in to the video. Where most artists simply recorded themselves at the studio in front of a microphone or out in a public place RAWOZ created a video with a storyline and introduced some cinematic elements to the video.
RAWOZ also stated that he feels his style and cadence is unique and not just a knock-off copycat of another already popular artist. RAWOZ says "We have enough 'bums' out there already, I'm trying to create a new algorithm with my cadence. I want to bring something new to the game".
We asked RAWOZ why winning this contest matters and what he believes it will do for his career to which he replied, "It's a long way up the ladder in the music business and Kato is already much further up that ladder than I am. Kato has the ability to bring me further up the ladder and help me polish my craft and make me a better performer".
RAWOZ also said that he believes he has a strong base of fans in the Midwest Region and feels confident that his family and friends will vote for him daily even though he admits that the daily voting process is a bit much and wishes Kato would have just had people vote once.

RAWOZ is married and has a son that is 5 years old. He says that showing his son that anything is possible and that your life is best spent chasing your dreams is important to him. He also says that he knows being an artist can be a real struggle at times and he is looking forward to making it "big" so that he can spoil his wife and give his son the kind of life he only dreamed of as a child.
RAWOZ also mentioned that while many rappers are busy partying and living 'that life' he chooses to invest his time in being healthy, exercising and being a martial artist. RAWOZ is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Purple Belt and coaches the kids program at Ground Zero Training Complex in Springfield, MIssouri.
When asked if there is anything he would like to add RAWOZ said "Please throw me the votes. IF you can, do it daily. Once you setup your BeatStars account which is totally free it's really easy to vote. Even though I only need 100 votes to be considered I want Kato to see my hustle. I want him to know right off the bat that I am consistent and I am hungry. The best way for that to happen is votes".
